What Parents & Coaches Say
“As a coach, I would highly recommend Game On to parents of young athletes who want to better support their children’s mental development in sport. The practical challenges at the end of each chapter make it especially valuable, giving parents and children clear ways to reinforce key mental skills such as focus, resilience, and confidence.”
Luke Godsmark, Head of Tennis
“Game On helped me feel calmer and more confident before my first tennis tournament. It showed me how to stop worrying and enjoy playing my best.”
Archie Godsmark, Age 9
About the Author
Steven Mather is a lawyer and dad to Araminta and Horace. Watching Horace play tennis, he saw how easily nerves, frustration, and self-doubt could change how he played — and realised the biggest opponent wasn't across the net, it was inside his own head. Game On! is Steven's way of passing on what he's learned from life, psychology, and his own experiences with how brains work — a playbook for mindset to help kids understand how their thoughts, feelings, and focus shape their performance.
